We got an Xbox360

So I realized when I posted yesterday, that it had been one month since my last one. So I thought I’d start trying (again) to post more.

When we went up to Dallas to see the John Mayer concert with Jeremy and Josie, I got to play some Xbox360 with Jeremy, and he encouraged me to get one so we could play online.

So I went ahead and took the plunge, and got one. Along with the games Crackdown and Rainbow Six: Vegas. It’s really awesome to play with Jeremy online, with the headset and co-op things. Philip wants to get one now too (wait, what about his PS3?), lol.

On day one however, the cat chewed through the headset cable (really tiny). So had to drop another $20 for a new one of those. And then Philip just yesterday decided to pick up/move the Xbox while the DVD was spinning up… Crackdown doesn’t appear to work anymore. I’ve read about a replacement program from Microsoft for that problem though, and a way to fix it.

It’s awesome though, and they have some great games about to come out this fall too. Never pictured myself a console person… but here I am.

I heard that about the 360… If you pick it up w/ a game or a DVD in it it can ruin the console. Microsoft just extended the warranties to 3 years and it’s reportedly costing them some billions of dollars because (and they admit this) “every single” 360 is defective.

Some 360 users are on their 6th console right now.

But this is all coming from a PS3 owner (me)

  1. It won’t ruin the console, just the game. There’s a fix for it, and not all consoles have the problem.

Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years for the “red ring of death” general hardware failure that Xbox’s can experience, which is not in connection with the disc scratching problem. The standard one year warranty applies to any other problems with the Xbox360.
