A bit of our life, in words.

Coming up on 15 hours of work straight. Worked straight through the night installing new hard drives on two servers; reinstalling the OS and copying and merging files from other old servers all onto the new one; all while reorganizing and changing the user permissions to simply things. The last of the files are being copied and then I wait for the manager to come in and explain how things will be a bit different now.

I remember when 100Mb/s connections were fast and it was an upgrade from the tired old 10Mb/s ethernet; now it’s just a pain; especially since I use 1Gb/s at home and I’m used to that… there is a big difference (almost 10 times technically! lol).

I was scheduled to do all this tonight, but got called in yesterday because they were having problems anyway. Fun, fun! I’m so ready to sleep… and it’s really awkward with all the employees starting to show up and I don’t really know any of them.
