Trying not to be a Mac fanatic…
So I’m trying really hard not to be a Mac and nothing else type; but they are just so easy and simple and work (at least with most things). That and I’m really annoyed by people who think there’s only one way with something like computers and their way is the correct way and your way is the incorrect way. Windows is still great and I still use it.
So, anyway… my best friend Jeremy came down last weekend to do some video editing on my 24″ iMac and just loved it. So he went back and bought one himself to start doing freelance editing for this guy here in Houston. We’re loving the built in iChat with audio, video and… my favorite, screen sharing! It used to be a nightmare to get UltraVNC up on our Windows machines so I could connect in (setting routers and ports and IP addresses) and help him with computer problems. But now it’s just two clicks, and his screen is my screen and I can do everything on it. AND it automatically does audio chat while sharing the screen. I’m lovin’ it.
Then when you get into multi-user video chats it’s really cool. The videos slide out and sideways like a stage… cool, cool. No worrying about having to buy a web cam and God forbid a separate non-USB microphone. It’s all built right in. The hardest part with my dad’s Mac Pro (doesn’t have a built in isight) was just spending $50 on a web cam with built in audio. We plugged it in and it all worked just like my iMac. Sweet.
So now with the newly announced MobileMe from Apple, my iMac, Macbook Pro and iPhone will all be synced up all the time (calendar, contacts, email, etc); very cool.
…. Now just to get Pam on board, hehehe.
